| Artist's
Biography
Initially
interested in making films, Brad Cole found
his way to photography and has been producing
exceptional images on paper for more than
twenty years. Often focusing on the landscape,
water, fire, ruins, and individuals, Cole
came to realize that his images contained
a mythic and symbolic meaning, suggestive
of energy and life. He has found something
of a mythic text in the land, in the typography
of the body and in the procession of signs
and apparitions. His photographs can be viewed
on many levels and is open to diverse interpretations.
His work is held in many private and public
collections, including the Bibliothèque
nationale, Paris, the San Diego Museum of
Photographic Arts, and the Monterey Museum
of Art. A monograph of his work, The Last
Dream, was published by the Center for
Photographic Arts in 1997. |
