Artist's
Biography
David Hill (1802 - 1870)
Robert Adamson (1821 - 1848)
The dynamic partnership of David Octavius
Hill and Robert Adamson in Scotland lasted
only five years (1843 to 1848). Hill, the
artist, and Adamson, the chemist, joined forces
to become one of the most groundbreaking unions
in the art of the photographic world to this
day. Their work, admired by many pictorialist
at the end of 19th century, including Alfred
Steiglitz, was tragically cut short due to
Adamson death.
