MARIANA COOK (AMERICAN, b. 1955)

Mariana Cook is a fine art photographer whose work is held in numerous private and museum collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art, New York City; The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles;  Museum of Fine Arts, Boston;  Museum of Fine Arts, Houston;  Bibliothèque Nationale and Musée d’Art Moderne, Paris; and the National Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC, among others.

Eleven books of her work have been published, including the best-selling Fathers and Daughters(1994) and the most recent, Lifeline (2017). Stone Walls: Personal Boundaries was her first book of landscapes, which was released in 2011 to much acclaim.

She continues to work with black-and-white film and make gelatin silver prints. She is the last protégée of Ansel Adams.
